The purpose and goal of The SAS Archive is to document and preserve the entire 91 year history of Saint Anthony’s Seminary and make this information readily available online to the general public via The SAS Archive Online Project.
The SAS Archive was originally founded by SafeNet in 2004. That same year finding a temporary physical space for the archive at Mission Santa Barbara became a joint effort of SafeNet and the SAS Alumni Association, thanks mostly to Alberic Smith, O.F.M., who was both the Guardian of Mission Santa Barbara at the time and also the Director of the SAS Alumni Association.
The SAS Archive is now a separate, non-profit program under the umbrella of Instruments of Peace, a 501 (c)(3) corporation, created in 2008. The SAS Archive Online Project is its web extension.
